Adhaalath party has alerted the public about the potential
danger to people's material comfort, but failed to alert the
people about danger (that await in the Hereafter) of kufr
thoughts which were spreading like wild fire in the society.
''Beautified for men is the love of things they covet: women,
children, much of gold and silver (wealth), branded beautiful
horses, cattle and well-tilled land. This is the pleasure of the
present world's life; but Allah has the excellent return with
Him.'' [ 3:14]
In this ayah, Allah (swt) states that the intellectual sensation
takes precedence above the material sensation regarding the
beauty. The ayah mentions that the beauty of the Iman, which can
be felt only by the Muslim, is much higher than the material
beauty which can be felt by all people.
In another ayah, Allah (swt) illustrates the distinction between
the intellectual sensation and the other types of sensation when
He mentions regarding the act of shirk (polytheism):
''The shirk (polytheism) is a great oppression.'' [ 31:13]
The physical or instinctive feeling may cause the person to
sense the material loss to property and wealth. However, Allah (swt)
in this ayah is directing the Muslims to look to things from the
Islamic perspective, which would lead to the realization that
associating anything with Allah (swt) in any aspect of Tawheed,
whether in the creation, in obedience, or in submission, is far
greater than any other type of physical or instinctive
oppression. Only Muslims who believe in Islam can feel the
seriousness of this type of oppression.
Conclusion
Since material loss can be sensed by any sane person regardless
of his religion, race or gender, an Islamic party such as
Adhaalath do not need to alert the people about these material
dangers. Allah (swt) ordered Muslims to form political parties
not to remind people about the danger to material comfort, but
to alert the danger that await in the Hereafter as a result of
rejecting the role of the Creator in socio-political life and
confining Islam into the mosque.
So where was this Adhaalath party when kufr concepts such as
''freedom'' were infiltrating into society ? Some would argue
that they did attack these concepts. The party did address these
issues when it wanted to stir anti-government hysteria. But it
never attacked the secular fundamentalist party which was
officially marketing these concepts with much public approval.
The Prophet (saw) spent 13 years in Mecca to challenge kufr
ideas and thoughts that were present in the society. He (saw)
even challenged thoughts that were not widely practised. Burying
of daughters was not prevalent. Had it been so, there would have
been a dearth of women in Meccah. Clearly this was not the case,
since some men had ten wives. However, all the kufr ideas were
commonly accepted, even if they were not widely practised. It is
this fact that made them worthy of being attacked. This is an
strong indication that merely believing in ideas that do not
emanate from Islam can lead us to hell-fire. Sadly Adhaalat
attacked only selected personalities, not the ideas.
