Foreign Policy of the Maldives is based on strengthening
friendly relations with all those that wish to foster such
relations. The Maldives enjoys cordial relations with all
SAARC countries, Islamic and Arab countries and with many
developing countries as well as developed countries.
The
Maldives:
Aspires to maintain the existing good relations and hopes to
establish friendly ties with all those that wish to foster
such relations.
Is party to many international treaties, conventions and
agreements, and fully respects and observes international law
and treaty obligations.
supports all efforts to promote peace and stability in South
Asia and beyond.
Seeks to safeguard its independence and national identity and
is active in international relations in ways consistent with
the protection of national interests.
Is committed to the principles of the UN Charter as the basis
for the conduct of relations amongst nations
